Coding Changes for 2012

Coding changes for 2012 are beginning to be announced. Work on the new edition of the Behavioral Health MultiBook has already begun.

We will soon begin taking advance orders for the 2012 Behavioral Health MultiBook.

July 11, 2011 - Free Audit Protection Webinar

Palmetto, a Medicare carrier, recently provided a free webinar about some common problems encountered during audits. This 51 minute webinar is very helpful.

According to Palmetto, "over half the claims that are being audited by the third party contractor lack the necessary information required to pay the claim." Many of the items addressed are easily fixed by making some pretty painless changes to your daily routine. For example, as stated in previous news articles, signature problems account for 68% of claim "errors". This webinar shows what is NOT acceptable so you don't make that mistake anymore.

Be sure to test your knowledge with the quiz at the end of the webinar. Review real-life examples of what the auditors are seeing and learn to protect your practice from pre and post-payment audits.

March 11, 2011 - Medicare Outpatient Treatment Limitation Clarification

CMS recently announced a change to the Outpatient Treatment Limitation in regards to the treatment of Alzheimer’s patients. This change will be effective on March 25, 2011. Further limitations have been placed on treatment of Alzheimer’s patients. Pay particular attention to the "as determined appropriate by contractors" change.
